Greetings everyone. This is my first post on this site, and it most certainly won’t be my last. This post is just meant to be as an introduction to the DS106 community otherwise known as the digital storytelling community. I’m excited to take this opportunity to learn more about the art of telling stories through means other than just reading them from books. I guess that one phrase is actually true. The one I’m referring to is, “A picture speaks a thousand words.” Now I don’t know if a picture truly does speak a thousand words, but they can speak many words. I feel like most of those words are adjectives, or words that can be easily described within the picture itself.
Anyways, this post isn’t meant to be about me per say, instead I just want to introduce you all to a little bit about my daily life and my hobbies other than gaming.
First off, let’s start with one of my favorite hobbies, Hiking. I love hiking and traveling. While I’ve never been outside of the country; I have been to a lot of different national and state parks. (Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc.) The only one I know I haven’t been to, is Glacier National Park in Montana. Every summer for a few years, my family and I would travel around the country and hike different trails. Some of them are way scarier than others. I’ve taken a few pictures while on those hikes, but I mostly take pictures of waterfalls. I don’t know why, but they just fascinate me more than anything about nature.
Wow, that is really pixelated. I did take this photo a few years ago, back in 2019. hiked one of the longer trails in the Shenandoah Valley. The picture looks a lot better on my flickr, trust me.
Now onto a few aspects of my daily life. I do pretty much what a lot of people do. Wake up, brush my teeth, etc. However, when I’m home on break from college, I get to play Billiards / Pool with my parents. we do a round robin tournament kind of thing. Basically I play against my parents one at a time and then my parents play against each other. Sometimes we have a person who wins both of their games, and sometimes we have days where everyone wins a game and loses a game. It’s really fun, and I’ve gotten a lot better at the game over time. Here’s a little clip of me getting a pretty good run to catch back up, because I was falling behind.
As you can see, I was 4 balls behind, and desperately needed to catch back up. I won that game btw.
And finally, I’m a music fan. specifically music that either comes from a video game soundtrack, or music that sounds like it would be in a video game. Some tracks in games just makes the game a lot more enjoyable. Like when you need to defeat a powerful enemy, the song that plays in the background is supposed to pumped you up and make you feel like you can defeat that enemy. It just makes the experience significantly better. One of my favorite tracks is from a video game. Not quite sure if many people in the community have played it, but I still want to share it anyways.
Now you know a little bit more about me and what I like to do. I’ll have more stories to share in the future. Thanks for reading.
